Character Name: Adriana-111
Fandom: Halo
Character Journal: adrianano
OU, AU, or OC? OU
If canon, canon point: After the Fall of Madrigal in 2535; nearly two decades prior to the events of the Halo games proper.
Superhero Name: Problem Child
History: A pretty concise, no bullshit wikipedia entry.
Personality:
From as young as six years old Adriana was set apart from the other children conscripted into the Spartan program. Whereas others such as John-117 took to mental conditioning like a duck to water, or fought bitterly against it until brought into line like Jai-006, Adriana simply had a good time. Kidnapped by the military and conscripted into a secret research project to create super soldiers, Adriana had fun. This was best demonstrated the first few weeks into basic where she would stage several, elaborate - like, bordering on Rambo: First Blood - escape attempts with Jai-006. Not because she actually wanted to leave like Jai did, but because she enjoyed it. A thrillseeker by nature, Adriana isn’t overly as concerned with details as her compatriots.
Adriana is happy to play the part of powder keg or fuse, depending on the situation. As you might have already guessed, Adriana is as far removed from other Spartans like the Master Chief personality-wise. Her streak of individualism and need to enjoy missions rather just complete them made her so difficult to handle that she and two others like her had to be trained apart. Stubborn to the point of brattiness, Adriana has never expressed hesitation at openly questioning superiors or ignoring orders entirely. This often manifests in her egging her team leader, Jai, on and doing whatever she wants as long as it gets the mission done rather than what Jai tells her.
What happened was ONI threw so much money into the project that they couldn’t just waste that investment so the happy middle-ground reached was just to throw her behind enemy lines along with the rest of her team and just hope the explosions don’t spill over onto our side. It’s worked over pretty well for both ONI and Gray, truth be told.
Despite all of this, it is important to note that Adriana is simply rowdy. There isn’t a sadistic bone in her body; Adriana doesn’t go out of her way to hurt others or show any interest in inflicting pain. She’s just a bratty adrenaline junkie. In light of being the Spartan’s own problem child she does share their best traits such as an unwavering devotion to humanity (and unlike most IIs, all of humanity even if they don’t support the UNSC) and unquestionable moral character. Adriana also demonstrates a better grasp of just being human than most IIs, capable of even for a short while being out of armor and socializing. While not as talkative or rude as most brats, Adriana is at her core a good person. Even if she will steal from you or light a trashcan on fire for shits and giggle.
Canon Powers:
One of the handful of Spartan commandos to have survied the augmentation procedure procedure without adverse side effects - like, dying - Adriana is not only physically larger and stronger than any unaugmented human she can literally think and react quicker. These augmentations also make it possible for her to wear the Mark IV MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor which transforms her from being a brick shithouse into a walking tank. Unlike the later model the Chief wears, her does not come equipped with shields.
Game powers: SPARTAN-IIs are already pretty ridiculous even within their own canon and if the first hit doesn’t put them down not much will. Unlike the Master Chief, Adriana’s armor is an older model without shields but both it and her enhanced physique translate well to in-game powers. Less of a bullet sponge and more of a flanking tank.
Abilities: Resourceful, quick on her feet, and utterly fearless. Adriana’s is a master in guerilla warfare and that skillset set her apart from other IIs from early into the program. A natural escape artist with a talent for creating diversions, Adriana can slink her way out of most situations be they dangerous or simply because she is bored. Also even though she’s her team’s heavy lifter, she is also their best field medic.
Setting: Being frontline defense facing down total annihilation is nothing new to Adriana, but she might be uncomfortable with being so public about it. Even for a Spartan, Gray team was made to go deep behind enemy lines with little to no oversight. It is likely she will get agitated and even rowdier than usual with none of her usual outlets (read: Jai and Mike) earning her superhero moniker.
Still, she is a Spartan and will acclimatize. A little shit she may be, but Adriana is committed and won’t take as much issue with the “no kill” rule as people might think.
SAMPLES
Prose Sample: 200 word minimum. You may use a test drive thread, use the following prompt, or make up your own. Links to RP samples at other games are not accepted, you must either use a Test Drive thread or write up a new prompt, but you may use samples at other games to supplement your samples. If your character is a quiet character, introspection or inner monologue is fine.
Your character is with the team at a fancy diplomatic party and a UP dignitary (Coluan, naturally, because man, that whole planet seems to be chock fill of arrogant dicks) has called into question the character's ability to be a Legionnaire and whether or not they, some weirdo interdimensional stranger, have the personal character to help protect the United Planets. How do they respond?
Network Sample: 200 word minimum. You may use the following prompt, or make up your own. Links to RP samples at other games are not accepted, you must write up a new prompt, but you may use samples at other games to supplement your samples. Since the test drives rarely use network format, you cannot use a test drive thread for the network sample, only the prose sample. If your character is a quiet character, introspection or inner monologue is fine.
Welcome to the Legion, rookie. As a way of helping your character cope with their circumstances and have an optimistic outlook towards the future, the existing Legionnaires want them to record a message to their future self with their thoughts on their current situation, what they hope to accomplish in their time with the Legion, and the first thing they want to do when they get sent safely home or to the dimension of their choice.
If this is your first character being apped to the game, did you reserve first? Yes, and yes.
